One might see Shih Tzu pictured that are all white or almost all white. This is the result of a breeding practice. Whatever attribute (regardless of what it maybe) that is bred over and over will be what is magnified in the offspring. It should be understood that any markings or color are acceptable according to the breed standard. But also the insinuation is that the Shih Tzu is a dog of color, not a white dog like the Maltese or Poodle. Breeders interested in breeding according to the breed standard won't strive to eliminate the color in effort to breed a "white" Shih Tzu.
At the same time, perspective new owners should not be that concerned with a well-bred Shih Tzu's color or markings. Symmetrical markings or a certain color, or more or less of a certain color are trivial points in the overall picture. Confirmation, temperament and health are the priorities. So it is advised that one doesn't allow such personal preference be the determining factor when it comes to making a decision concerning acquiring a Shih Tzu. Never major on a minor.

The Shih Tzu breed has gain popularity over recent years. Being a small in-home show hobbyist breeder with Shih Tzu puppies for sale in GA FL AL TN NC SC on occasion; it is important to attempt to give guidance to those families searching for a Shih Tzu puppy to add to their home. I want to provide Shih Tzu puppies that have "a part of the family" attitude. Shih Tzu puppies that will grow up to be loving and well tempered dogs, that are also beautiful.

The Shih Tzu breed standard sets the guidelines which responsible breeders base their breeding practice on. You might say, the breed standard is the Shih Tzu's friend. It holds the breeder to accountability and should not be disregarded. Shih Tzu breeders that willfully or ignorantly depart in their breeding on major points of the breed standard can hardly be perceived as having the best interest of the Shih Tzu breed at heart but producing non-conformity Shih Tzu puppies for whatever motive. Families seeking top quality Shih Tzu puppies for sale in GA FL AL TN NC SC and other states need to educate themselves concerning their decision because there is no substitution for quality.

One major point of deviation is based on a popular movement to down-size the breed. The Shih Tzu breed standard sets the ideal weight of the Shih Tzu at 9-16 lbs. This weigh guidance is necessary to be able to maintain the "good substance" the Shih Tzu is to have according to the Shih Tzu breed standard. These guidelines are set in place based on experienced breeders over decades working to solidify the ideal Shih Tzu. If a Shih Tzu breeder will compromise and depart on such a critic issue because of an unaware market of people wanting an ever smaller dog, then that is a good indicator that the standard holds no value to them and they think that anything is acceptable. This way of thinking then results in poor quality and not what Shih Tzu lovers that are seeking high quality, well conformed Shih Tzu puppies want as an addition to their family. Education is key when it comes acquiring a Shih Tzu puppy. Reputable Shih Tzu breeders strive to adhere to the Shih Tzu breed standard as that is truly what's in the best interest of the Shih Tzu breed and the homes that are seeking a Shih Tzu puppy to love.

There are other breeds to select from if one wants a very tiny dog. Trying to make the Shih Tzu something it is not intended to be is not the solution to having a tiny dog.

Responsible, reputable Shih Tzu breeders in the southeastern USA with Shih Tzu puppies for sale in GA FL AL TN SC NC are few and far between. They are determined to advance the Shih Tzu breed, but careful breeding practices based on a good knowledge of the specifics of the breed and the Shih Tzu dogs they are working with. Anyone can let two dogs mate, but there is much more involved with breeding Shih Tzu if the desired outcome is standard conformity in disposition and structure, along with good health.  While there may be plenty of poor to mediocre Shih Tzu puppies available on the market at any given time, reputable Shih Tzu breeders may not have over a few puppies in a years time so it may take being patient in waiting for one to become available, but it is well worth the wait.
