Neutering and Spaying:

I suggest that you wait until the body is mature before spaying or neutering your Shih Tzu. This allows your Shih Tzu puppy's body to "come together." I suggest spaying a Shih Tzu female be done a few weeks after the first heat. (The heat cycle usually initiates from 8-12 months old.) A Shih Tzu male should be neutered shortly after coming to sexual maturity (usually around 9-10 months.) Consult your Vet. as to when the best time will be to have this done.
